A Big New Chapter for Kiwanis Club of Golden’s American Flag Project

How our expansion happened — and why it matters for the whole community.

We’ve Expanded… and It’s a Really Big Deal

This year marks a turning point for the Kiwanis Club of Golden’s American Flag Project. After years of running a beloved, volunteer‑powered tradition with our long‑time partner Scout Troop 130, demand kept growing. More neighborhoods wanted flags. More families wanted to participate. More people wanted to support youth leadership and community service.

We reached a moment where the project was bigger than our capacity — and that’s a good problem to have.

Enter our new partners: Scout Troops 21 and 2176 serving West Arvada. These Scouts stepped in with enthusiasm, discipline, and a whole lot of heart. Their involvement won’t just add more hands — it adds more leadership, more energy, and more opportunities for youth to serve in Jeffco.

This expansion is the reason we can now reach more homes, cover more routes, and bring even more flags to American patriotic holidays.

How We Got Here — A Quick History

The Kiwanis Club of Golden’s Flag Project began 26 years ago as a small but mighty collaboration between Kiwanis Club of Golden and Troop 130. Together, we built the routes, the system, the quality standards, and the tradition. Families subscribed, Scouts learned responsibility, and Golden woke up to hundreds of flags waving proudly.

As Golden grew, so did interest. We wanted to say yes — but we needed more youth partners to make it sustainable. That’s when Troops 21 and 2176 serving west Arvada joined the mission. Their arrival transformed the project from a single‑troop operation into a multi‑troop, community‑wide collaboration. It’s now one of the largest youth‑powered service traditions in the west metro area.
